The Bund is located at the west bank of Huanzpu River, running from WaiDsouu Bridge in the north to Xinkaihe crossing of Chungshan Road (south), in the south, totaling 1700 metres in length. With Hnangpu River; long causeway, yean. From Beijing Road (east) to the Xinkaihe crossing, the main structure is semi-opened gallery quay structure, top of which k a sight-seeing pedestrian street along the Huangpu River, and the gallery is butt into carport and tourist service shop. Between the gallery and road, the multi-layered and three-dimensional greenbelt is laid, and fountain, parterres, square, sculptures, handrails, seats and various sorts of courtyard lamps are all collocated. The scenic belt along the river gives a sense of rhythm, reflecting the unique port scenery of Shanghai. The scene at the Bund is so charming that it looks like a diaphanous fairyland on earth. The main sight Building, Shanghai Customs House, Asia Building, Broadway Building, Russell & Co. Building and HSBC Building, and now the Bund building have been one of national cultural heritages under special protection.
Two of Shanghai's most influential streets Nanjing Road and Fuzhou Road (heretofore mentioned as Nanjing Lu and Fuzhou Lu) developed in step with the Bund. Nanjing Lu is the more boisterous of the two, typically packed with tourists year round, while Fuzhou Lu is relatively quiet.
Nothing but painstaking effort and the indomitable Shanghai spirit could have created the lush forest on the infertile strip of land along the Huangpu River floodwall. Spanning the Huangpu River from Huangpu Park to Xinkaihe, the wall has long been the province of lovers drifting along the trees on midsummer nights. In a time when there were few places in town for young lovers to be alone, the tree lined floodwall was a natural sanctuary where young people could rendezvous. Over the course of time, the wall developed into a tourist attraction, and the government erected a sightseeing terrace for the convenience of increasing visitors. As the numbers of tourists have increased, the number of young couples along the wall has dwindled. Twilight views across the Huangpu River from the sightseeing terrace do much to compensate for the lost romance.
Built in 1886, Shanghai's earliest European-style garden bore witness to one hundred years of history on the Bund. The park which infamously hung the sign "Chinese and Dogs Not allowed" at its entrance, was at one time a humiliating symbol of European colonialism in China. But with the Monument to the People's Heroes; the large inspiring Pujiang Chao, a bronze sculpture of a worker-hero battling an ocean swell; and One Hundred Years of Shanghai Wind and Clouds — a granite relief sculpture of Shanghai's revolutionary history — things are looking a lot more positive these days in Huangpu Park.

If you are on the Bund and need to get to Pudong (Lujiazui) in a hurry, take the Bund tunnel. It will take from two to five minutes to walk through the 646.7 meter walkway, which passes under the Huangpu River and deposits you on the opposite bank at the foot of the Oriental Pearl Tower. This is also the place to come to find the Chinese Museum of Sex Culture. Located in the Lujiazui's underground exhibition hall, the Museum of Sex Culture's visitor's entrance can be found right inside the Bund tunnel. Please note that to reach the museum; you must first buy two tickets: one for the tunnel and the other for the Museum of Sex Culture.
The Museum of Sex Culture was first constructed in 1999 on the Nanjing Lu promenade. But, it attracted little interest from the Shanghai public, and was forced to move when its expenditures exceeded its income. The collections currently on exhibit include 500 works of sexually themed art by Liu Dalin, and exhibits about sex in primitive society, women and marriage, sex in daily life, and special topics in sexuality. Here you can also learn about the worship of sexuality in ancient antiquity; marriage, families, and their relation to female oppression; and religious and foreign sexual cultures.

1. (Via Subway) Take the number two line to Hennan Zhonglu. Exit from the station and follow Nanjing Donglu. Traveling on foot, you can reach the Bund in a few minutes.
2. (Puxi) (By Bus) Take the tourist line number 8 or lines 20, 71, 55, 65, 37, 42, 26, 123, 135, 145, 251, 305, 311, 316, 317, 320, 330,503,576,868,926,921,934, or 940. Get off at one of the stations along the Bund. You can also take lines 17, 64, 801, 61, 21, 220, 939, and tunnel line number nine. You can get off at one of the many stops near the Bund and walk the rest of the way.
3. (Pudong) (By Bus) (浦东) Take the following lines to the ferry crossing at Dongchang Lu: 81, 86, 313, 338, 339, 630, 797, 818, 977, 978, switch over to the Dongjin line (traveling from Dongchang to Jinling Donglu). The ferry will arrive at the Bund.
4. (Via Subway) Take the one or two line to the People's Square or Fuzhou Lu stations.
5. (By Bus) You can take the following lines to the People's Square or Fuzhou Lu 20, 37, 15,18,21,49,315,330,451,921.
6. Huangpu River Tour Boat: Short one hour day trip. One ticket from Zhongshan Dong Er Lu to the Yangpu Bridge is 40 RMB; the two o'clock three hour boat trip to the mouth of the Wusong is 70 RMB for a lower cabin and 120 for an upper cabin (including drinks and snacks); the short evening trip, runs 35 RMB per person on a small (100 person) boat and 50RMB per person on a larger (800 person) boat. The service does not run in the winter. Operating hours: 9:30am-21:30pm
The best way to explore Nanjing Lu, Fuzhou Lu, and the Bund is to go the point where they intersect and start walking. If you want to fully immerse yourself in Shanghai's history and architecture, and also want to take some time out to go shopping and book hunting, than you will probably need to set aside a full day to explore this area. Otherwise, half a day should suffice. For those who are serious about photography, afternoon and evening is a great time to visit this area. Late scenes from the Bund have seduced many a photographer over the years, and the restaurants atop the Bund's many tall buildings are perfect spots for some highrise photography. We suggest taking a few aerial shot from the Panorama (海湾大厦) near the Waibaidu Bridge.
Tourists can also be found congregating and snapping photos daily at the plaza in front of the Huangpu Park (黄浦江公园). Dusk is a great time to come if you want to avoid the crowds.
Lavish upscale restaurants can be found on the Bund in buildings 3, 6 and 18. Do not expect to find any culinary bargains here. A quick detour onto Nanjing Lu or Fuzhou Lu, however, will lead you to a number of more economical eateries.
That being said, sit-down restaurants on Nanjing Lu still tend to be on the expensive side; however, cheap snack shops abound. Why not try some of the steamed buns stuffed with mustard greens (梅菜包子) and roast pork tenderloin (叉烧包), or a plate of boiled Daniang Dumplings (大娘水饺) You should be able to fill yourself up for 10 RMB or less.
Beautifully Fragrant Roast Meat Stand (美珍香烤肉脯)
Located at entrance of a food shop on 720 Nanjing Donglu (near the intersection with Guizhou Lu), Shanghai's most well known roast meat stand serves sweet flavored meats. Prices here tend to run a little high though. A grab bag of samples can reach 20 RMB to 30 RMB.
Emerald Pavilion (翠亭)
This is a nice place to go for cheap local specialties. The Emerald Pavilion is located on Shanxi Nanlu, close to the intersection with Nanjing Donglu. Expect to pay about 30 RMB per person. Look out for their narrow staircase.
Taikang Tangbaoguan (泰康汤包馆)
Located at 766 Nanjing Donglu on the second floor of Taikang Food Store, Tangbao makes some great tangbao (汤包), steamed dumplings filled with minced meat. Here you will be able to find authentic minced crabmeat tangbao, "xiaolongbao" (小笼包) — small steamed buns stuffed with crab and fresh meats, and meat and vegetable or shrimp filled wontons. 20 RMB to 30 RMB should provide enough to satisfy your appetite.
Raffles City on the side of Nanjing Lu is the place to go for Chinese style fast food. Here you will be able to find all kinds of cuisine including the Ajisen Ramen (味千拉面) stretched noodle restaurant among others.
Running near Nanjing Lu, Fuzhou Lu was famous in old Shanghai for its restaurants. The storied Xinghua Restaurant (杏花楼酒家), located at 343 Fuzhou Lu, was built in 1851 as a Cantonese restaurant. It moved in 1928 to the intersection of the Four Horse Road (today's Fuzhou Lu) and Shandong Lu. Local private houses were demolished to make way for this four storey structure that is as wide as seven shop fronts. This establishment once hosted important figures such as government officials, celebrities, and international consuls. Xinghua still serves classic Cantonese cuisine. Their moon cakes are especially famous, and you can see long lines of people waiting to buy them during China's Mid-Autumn Festival.
Laobanzhai Restaurant (老半斋酒楼)
Located at the intersection of Fuzhou Lu and Zhejiang Zhonglu, this establishment serves Huaiyangstyle cuisine. Once famed as the favorite haunt of the Shanghai literati, celebrated literary figures such as Lu Xun and Liu Yazi all came here to feast on culinary treats. In addition to its more traditional sit down menu, Laobanzhai currently also serves Yangzhou style snacks such as wontons and steeped rice. Retaining its fresh authentic flavors, the fast food is a great value; you should be able to fill up on only a few RMB.
Wangbaohe Restaurant (王保和酒家)
This well-known upscale crab house is located at 603 Fuzhou Lu, right across the street from Laobanzhai. Known as the "Crab King", the expensive and renowned crab feast was founded here. Bring a stack of cash, because you will pay between 200 and 500 RMB per person for the honor of dining here. When you are ordering, it is recommended that you stick to the restaurant's famous crab dishes. The other features on the menu are bit mediocre.
