Itinerary

  • Day1

    Arrival in Lhasa – Tsedang

    Upon arrival at Gonggar Airport, your local guide will pick you up and drive you to Tsedang, about 100km from the airport. The rest of day is free for you to adjust to the altitude.
  • Day2

    Yumbulakang Palace, Trundruk Monastery, Samye Monastery

    After breakfast we will visit the Yumbulakang Palace. It was said that the buildings were constructed in B.C. 2nd century, as the palace for the first king of Tibet Niechi Zambo. Yombulagang reserves a great many antiques and classics of past dynasties. It is one of cultural heritage units under regional special protection.
    Trundruk Monastery is first founded in the 7th century when Songtsan Gambo ruled the ancient Tibetan regime, after being rehabilitated and extended by later dynasties. The monastery consists of Coqen Grand Hall, Medicine Master Buddha hall, Infinitude Light Buddha chapel, Guanyin Buddha hall, Infinitude Life Buddha chapel, and Seven Buddhas chapel. The temple reserves many murals and statues, the key antiques are pearl Tangka, bronze cast Padmasambhava (Lianhuasheng) and Tara statues.
    In the after we will go to the Samye Monastery, which was built up in 799 under the supervision of Indian Buddhist Philosopher Jihu, Master Padmasambhava (Lianhuasheng) and Tibetan King Trisong Detsen, the first monastery to accept tonsure monks. With the Wuze great hall as the main building, the general layout of the components were created as per the space and Xumi Mount style prescribed in the Buddhist doxy.

    Tsedang to Lhasa, Drepung Monastery and Tibet Museum

    In the morning we will drive about 2 hours from Tsedang to Lhasa, with road of good conditions.
    When we arrive in Lhasa, we will visit Drepung Monastery, which was first constructed in 1416 as the largest of the six major monasteries of Gelug Sect. It covers an area of 250,000 square meters, and has more than 10,000 lamas. The fifth Dalai Lama lived here before he moved to the Potala Palace. The monastery holds abundant historical and cultural classics and Buddhist sutras. At the Shoton Festival in August every year, the monastery is crowded with Buddhist believers. The activity of sunning Buddha held at the monastery is one of the most important religious activities in Tibet.
    Tibet Museum covers an area of 53, 959 square meters and the exhibition halls have an area of 10, 451 square meters. This large and spectacular museum has a rich collection of cultural relics, such as the objects of the prehistoric culture, hand copied classics in the Tibetan language, colorful Thangkas, various musical instruments, service and sacrificial pieces, handicrafts with distinctive ethnic characteristics, and pottery wares of the unique styles.

    Lhasa: Potala Palace, Barkhor Street and Jokhang Temple

    Your visit today begins with the Potala Palace, which are a symbol of peace and a great masterpiece of Tibetan architecture. As a sacred land of Tibetan culture, every day hundreds of ordinary Tibetans walk months to worship the Palace for their traditional beliefs and family blessing.
    Later you enter into the sacred Temple of Jokhang, the cradle of Tibetan Buddhism and the old city center of Lhasa.
    Then take a walk along the pilgrimage route with local devotees on Barkhor Street, which gives you a glimpse into the daily lives of the people of this area.

Normally we will arrange vehicles with more space for you and your luggages. Depending on the number of passengers, we generally use sedans or minivans (7 seats) for 4 people or less, large vans or small buses (12-22 seats) for 5 to 12 people, medium cars (33-37 seats) for 13 - 25 people and large buses (more than 45 seats) for more than 25 people.

Remarks 
•  Tibet Tourism Bureau Permit (TTB) should be applied 12 working days in advance before the date of your trip de Tibet. If you couldn't provide the required documents on time, an extra handling fee will be charged.
•  Due to the special nature of Tibet, if any unforeseen cases occur beyond our control, such as war, fire, epidemics, health risks, hurricanes, terrorism and other current or potential severe weather conditions, government action, major traffic jams, delay or cancellation of flight/train, attractions temporarily closed. etc., we will have to change your itinerary, and in this case, we will calculate and charge/refund any increase or reduction in travel costs accordingly.
