A deep journey is to discover different ethnic groups in Guizhou and Guangxi. Through this tour you can get to know the ethnic groups of Miao, Dong, Yao and Zhuang in southwest China.


Itinerary

  • Day1

    Guiyang Arrival

    • No Meals
    Our guide will meet you at Guiyang airport or train station and transfer you directly to the hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle.
  • Day2

    Guiyang to Kaili, Shiqiao Miao Village, Qingman Miao Village

    • Breakfast, Lunch
     After breakfast we will drive you from Guiyang to Kaili. On the way you will visit Shiqiao Miao Village. This village is known for its papermaking. Not only you can see traditional constructions of their residential houses, but also see how to make paper in their own traditional way.
    Then you will continue to visit the Qingman Miao Village, located 23 km from Kaili. This village is known for their costumes of long skirt and a welcoming ceremony will be offered for travel
  • Day3

    Kaili: Langde Miao Village, Matang Ge Village, Jidao Miao Village, Hiking from Shuidian Village to Paika Village

    • Breakfast, Lunch
    Today is a day dedicated to discover Miao villages around Kaili. Langde Miao Village is located 29 km from the city of Kaili and it’s known for its costumes of long-skirt. You can see traditional houses and Miao people in costume during the festival.
     Then you will go to visit Matang Ge Village. This ethnic group is considered as a branch of the Miao ethnic group. They are known for their costumes, which are similar to the uniforms of soldiers of the past and they have more varied colors.
    Jidao Miao Village is a famous Miao village. A welcoming ceremony will wait for you so that you can get to know their culture better.
    Take a short hike from Shuidian village to Paika village. You can see the typical village and natural landscapes. Paika village is known for the manufacture of Lusheng, a typical musical instrument for Dong and Miao ethnic groups.

  • Day4

    Kaili to Rongjiang, Leigong Mountain, Datang Miao village, Chejiang Drum Tower

    After breakfast we will drive to Rongjiang. Today you will visit Leigong Mountain and Datang short-skirted Miao village.
    Leigong Mountain is located 42 km from Kaili, you can see natural landscapes, as well as villages of the Miao.
    Datang Miao Village is famous for its short skirt. In this village women wear their skirts from 10 to 16 centimetres long all year round. We can also see waterproof granaries. To conserve crops properly, local ethnic groups have built waterproof granaries above the water in a traditional style.
    The Sanbao Dong village is located between the mountains and rivers. This village is surrounded by large Banyan trees. When you walk around the village, you get to know their way of life better, such as playing cards, making batiks, singing folk songs and dancing etc. You will also see Chejiang Drum Tower, one of the most important drum towers in the Dong region.

  • Day5

    Rongjiang to Conjiang to Zhaoxing, Local Morning Market, Huanggang Dong Village, Basha Village

    In the morning you will visit the local morning market, which give you an opportunity to get in touch with their daily life.
    Then you will visit Huanggang Dong Village, which is a small and charming village. It allows us to see Dong ethnic groups.
    The Basha Miao village is an old Miao village. Until now they still keep their old traditions and their own unique belief and live in their traditional wooden houses. In this village you will see the rows of wooden easels four or five metres high and three metres wide, used to dry rice. During the harvest, the locals place golden rice stalks on it.
  • Day6

    Zhaoxing: Zhaoxing Dong Village, Tangan Dong Village

    Today you will visit Zhaoxing Dong Village and Tangan Dong Village. Zhaoxing is a very famous village and all its inhabitants are Dong ethnic minority. The Dong people keep their tradition, speak their dialect and live in typical wooden houses. They are also known for their beautiful voice. They're good at singing.
    The Tang’an Dong village is considered as the most primitive Dong village in China, which was built on a steep mountain slope overlooking the rice terraces. You will see old wooden houses, a traditional drum tower, a theatre stadium and a wind-and-rain bridge.
  • Day7

    Zhongxing to Sanjiang by High Speed Train, Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge, Sanjiang Dong Village

    After breakfast you will take train station to Sanjiang, a famous Dong district in Guangxi. You will visit Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge, which was built in 1912, which is well preserved and the symbol of Sanjiang. Then discover Dong villages near Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge.
  • Day8

    Sanjiang to Longsheng, Longji Rice Terraces

    In the morning we will drive to Longsheng from Sanjiang. Longsheng is known for its terraced rice fields. Longji Rice Terraces is considered one of the most beautiful rice terraces in China. You will also see Yao and Zhang ethnic groups there.
    After visiting we will transfer you to Guilin.
  • Day9

    Guilin to Yangshuo , Cruise on the Li River

    Today you will take cruise on the Li River from Guilin to Yangshuo. The journey lasts about 4 hours. The picturesque Lijiang River extends 83 kilometers like a green silk belt across mountains and hills from Guilin to Yangshuo. To travel the river, one needn't worry about weathers because its natural sights vary in different weathers, but are all beautiful.
    Upon arrival in Yangshuo, after check-in your hotel, you will have a visit to Yangshuo countryside by car or bicycle to appreciate the poetic natural landscape. On the way, you can make a family visit and learn more about local life by talking to farmers.
  • Day10

    Yangshuo to Guilin, Elephant Trunk Hill, Reed Flute Cave, Guilin Departure

    After breakfast we will drive you back to Guilin for visit to attractions of the city.
    Elephant Trunk Hill appears just like an elephant drinking water from the river with its trunk, hence its name. The scenic spots in the park include Water Moon on Elephant Hill, Puxian Pagoda, the Love Island composed of three amusement islets, the Yunfeng Temple at the south foot of the hill, and the Sarira Pagoda in the southwest.
    Reed Flute Cave is one of Guilin's major scenic attractions. Inside this vast cavern are fantastic stalagmites and stalactites, earning it the name of "Nature's Art Palace”.
    After tour you will be transfer to Guilin airport/train station for your next destination.

•    Meals: All meals are specified in the itinerary. Breakfast is usually a Western-style buffet at the hotel, or could be a Chinese breakfast in some remote areas. Chinese lunch will be arranged in a local restaurant.
•    Hotels: All rooms have air conditioning and private bathroom, unless specified.
•    Private Transfers: A private driver and a private tour guide will transfer you to airport/railway station, hotel and attractions in the cities in private air-conditioned vehicle.
•    Private Guide: We provide professional licensed tour guides who speaks English or other langauges  acorrding to your requirement. They are responsible, knowledgeable and have a sense of humor to accompany you throughout your journey.
•    Service Expenses (includes planning, handling, operating and communication expenses) and Government Taxes.

Trip Notes

Meals of Young's China Travel•     Meals
In your itinerary, it normally offers two meals each day: breakfast and lunch. You will have the freedom to choose your own dinner. If you have certain food allergies or special requirements such as vegetarian food, please let us know in advance. We will try our best to satisfy your special needs.
Breakfast
Normally served at the hotel where you stay. Depending on the hotel, breakfast is Western style, Chinese style or a combination.
Lunch - A la Carte 
In order to have our customers to taste authentic Chinese food and avoid tourist menus, we take food quality, dining environment and travel convenience into consideration when planning your lunch. Therefore , we will arrange a la carte lunch at a local restaurant whenever possible. Lunch a la carte is varied with different recommended restaurants and different cities. You could order the dishes according to your taste under the instructions of your guide. However, in some remote regions where it is difficult to find a non-tourist restaurant, you could have lunch at a local tourist restaurant or in a local family.
Your Own Dinner Option
Dinner is not included in our China travel package, unless you have this requirement. Looking for food by yourself could also be one of your best experiences in China. Therefore we offer you this flexibility of food choice. You can ask for your private guide to gain good suggestions.

In each city, we have a professional local guide. Our guide picks you up punctually at your arrival from the airport/railway station/spring of each destination. On your way out of that city, your guide will stay by your side until you have checked in and passed through security. All our travel guides in each destination are local and responsible, who know this area well. They accompany you visiting this city during 8 working hours of each day and they will tell background stories of the tourist places, and show you the secret places to take your best Vehicles of Young's China Travel pictures.
When it is necessary to change your itinerary for unexpected reasons, your private travel guide will suggest alternatives to ensure that you still have an excellent experience.

Private Transfer
With our comfortable and safe private transfer, your trip will be more relaxing and less tiring, keeping you in the best spirits to make the most of your experience in China. In all destinations visited, your vehicle is air-conditioned, clean and expertly maintained. Your private driver is licensed, insured and experienced.
Normally we will arrange vehicles with more space for you and your luggages. Depending on the number of passengers, we generally use sedans or minivans (7 seats) for 4 people or less, large vans or small buses (12-22 seats) for 5 to 12 people, medium cars (33-37 seats) for 13 - 25 people and large buses (more than 45 seats) for more than 25 people.
