Shanghai and Hangzhou are two important cities in Eastern China, but have different charm. Hangzhou is a beautiful and magnificent city with many historical sites and picturesque places. In this tour you will explore the past of old Shanghai, take a boat ride on the picturesque West Lake in Hangzhou.


Itinerary

  • Day1

    Arrival Shanghai, the Bund, Shanghai Museum and Shanghai Tower

    Your private guide will pick up you at the airport in the morning and transfer you to your hotel.
    After check-in and have short rest in hotel, your journey of Shanghai will start with the Bund. Stroll through the bustling Bund, with prominent European colonial architectures, new skyscrapers and historic buildings in Shanghai.
    Then you will visit Shanghai Museum, with its collection of 120,000 pieces of ancient Chinese treasures.
    You will also have a bird's eye view of the city after ascending the Shanghai’s new landmark – Shanghai Tower.
  • Day2

    Shanghai: Yu Garden, French Concession, Shanghai to Hangzhou by High Speed Train

    In the morning you will visit the Yu Garden. Due to its ingenious design in the Ming and Qing dynasties, it becomes a veritable museum of ancient Chinese architecture with its labyrinth of corridors, ponds, pavilions and stone bridges.
    Then continue to walk in the former French Concession. This elegant residential area was under French control from 1849 to 1946. The tree-lined streets are dotted with shops, restaurants and bars and you will see beautiful colonial buildings of Shanghai.
    After tour you will be transferred to train station for high speed train to Hangzhou. Your local tour guide of Hangzhou will pick up you at Hangzhou train station.
  • Day3

    Hangzhou: West Lake, Lingyin Temple, Six Harmonies Pagoda, Meijiawu Tea Village, Hangzhou to Shanghai by High Speed Train

    After breakfast, you will take a boat ride on the West Lake. This lake, lying to the west of Hangzhou, is the most beautiful of the thirty or more lakes in China which bear the same name. Once a small bay at the mouth of the Qiantang River, it was separated from the sea by river sediment to become a lake. The lake with its islands covers approximately six square kilometres. Then we will move to the Lingyin Temple, one of the most famous Buddhist temples in China. In front of the temple is Feilai Feng(Peak Flying from Afar), a grotto with numerous engraved images. 
    Later we will visit the Six Harmonies Pagoda on the north bank of the Qian-tang River, which was built here in 970 A.D. to placate the flood, a body of water that flows upstream at high tide. And Meijiawu Tea Village is famous for Longjing(Dragon Well tea), one of China's most celebrated green teas.
    After visiting in Hangzhou, you will return to Shanghai by high speed train.

In order to have our customers to taste authentic Chinese food and avoid tourist menus, we take food quality, dining environment and travel convenience into consideration when planning your lunch. Therefore , we will arrange a la carte lunch at a local restaurant whenever possible. Lunch a la carte is varied with different recommended restaurants and different cities. You could order the dishes according to your taste under the instructions of your guide. However, in some remote regions where it is difficult to find a non-tourist restaurant, you could have lunch at a local tourist restaurant or in a local family.

On your way out of that city, your guide will stay by your side until you have checked in and passed through security. All our travel guides in each destination are local and responsible, who know this area well. They accompany you visiting this city during 8 working hours of each day and they will tell background stories of the tourist places, and show you the secret places to take your best Vehicles of Young's China Travel pictures.
When it is necessary to change your itinerary for unexpected reasons, your private travel guide will suggest alternatives to ensure that you still have an excellent experience.

Private Transfer
With our comfortable and safe private transfer, your trip will be more relaxing and less tiring, keeping you in the best spirits to make the most of your experience in China. In all destinations visited, your vehicle is air-conditioned, clean and expertly maintained. Your private driver is licensed, insured and experienced.
Normally we will arrange vehicles with more space for you and your luggages. Depending on the number of passengers, we generally use sedans or minivans (7 seats) for 4 people or less, large vans or small buses (12-22 seats) for 5 to 12 people, medium cars (33-37 seats) for 13 - 25 people and large buses (more than 45 seats) for more than 25 people.
