Guizhou is a very charming region where different ethnic groups live, such as Miao, Dong and Zhang etc. A visit to Kaili, Rongjiang, Congjiang and Zhaoxing allows you to see their traditional houses, clothes, hairstyles and silver crafts etc. The most typical villages such as Jidao Miao Village, Matang Ge village, Zhaoxing Dong village and Basha Miao village are included in this tour.


Itinerary

  • Day1

    Guiyang Arrival

    Our guide will meet you at Guiyang airport (or train station) and drive you directly to the hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle. Have a good rest at your hotel.
  • Day2

    Guiyang to Kaili by Car, Shiqiao Miao Village, Matang Ge village

    After breakfast we will start the discovery in the ethnic minority regions.
    It will take 3 hours’ driving from the city of Guilin to Shiqiao Miao village, where about 250 families of the Miao ethnic groups live. The Miao people keep their traditions well. This village is known not only for its Miao ethnic groups and its tradition, but also for its traditional papermaking. The manufacture of paper in Shiqiao Village has a history of more than 1000 years. We will visit local paper workshop and experiment papermaking (white and coloured papers). They are considered to be the best papers for Chinese painting and calligraphy.
    Then we will continue towards Matang Ge village. The ethnic group Ge is a branch of the Miao, but it has differences from the Miao. This village is 21 km north of Kaili. The Ge is known for their costumes, hairstyles and batiks. Their costumes are similar to the soldier's uniforms of the ancestral era.

    Kaili to Rongjiang by Car, Jidao Miao Village, Datang Miao Village, Chejiang Drum Tower

    Today you will continue visit to ethnic villages, including the Miao and Dong.
    The Jidao Miao village is located 20 km southeast of Kaili, and it is known for its long skirts. Life in the villages is quiet. In order to get to know the tradition of the Jidao Miao, a welcoming ceremony will be waiting for you in the village. You will see their traditional costumes and you can photograph with local people. Sometimes they offer you to taste the local alcohol.
    The Datang Miao village is known for their short skirts and traditional hairstyles. We can see women wearing their short skirts. When you walk through this village, you also see their attic on the water.
    Chejiang's Drum Tower is located in Rongjiang, with 21 floors and a length of 36.8 meters. This drum was inscribed in the Guinness Book because of its size, height and number of floors.

    Rongjiang to Congjiang to Zhaoxing by Car, Basha Miao Village, Zhaoxing Dong Village

    After breakfast we will drive to the Basha Miao village. The Basha Miao village is located in Congjiang where many Miao peple live. It is a well-preserved Miao village. This village is known for their houses, hairstyles and clothing. In this village men have exceptional hairstyles. They have long braided hair and buns and women wear batik clothing and silver jewellery. The Basha villagers live in traditional wooden houses. It's beautiful for photography.
    Zhaoxing Dong Village is the largest Dong village in China. In this village you can see drum towers, wind and rain bridges, and typical wooden houses. You can walk quietly through the village to experience the authentic life of the Dong.

    Tang'an Dong Village, Zhaoxing to Guiyang by car, Guiyang Departur

    In the morning visit the Tang'a Dong village. This village is considered to be the most primitive Dong village. Live more than 160 Dong families. This village was surrounded by hills. There are 9 accesses to get out of the village. At each access you can see a nice entrance. When you walk through the village, pretty wooden houses, drum towers and theatres will come into view.
    After visit, we will drive back to Guiyang. The discovery of ethnic minorities in Guizhou ends. We will transfer you to Guiyang airport or train station for your next destination.

•    Meals: All meals are specified in the itinerary. Breakfast is usually a Western-style buffet at the hotel, or could be a Chinese breakfast in some remote areas. Chinese lunch will be arranged in a local restaurant.
•    Hotels: All rooms have air conditioning and private bathroom, unless specified.
•    Private Transfers: A private driver and a private tour guide will transfer you to airport/railway station, hotel and attractions in the cities in private air-conditioned vehicle.
•    Private Guide: We provide professional licensed tour guides who speaks English or other langauges  acorrding to your requirement. They are responsible, knowledgeable and have a sense of humor to accompany you throughout your journey.
•    Service Expenses (includes planning, handling, operating and communication expenses) and Government Taxes.
•    Insurance: China Life Tourist Accident/Casualty Insurance
•    Baggage Transfers: Between airports and hotels.

Trip Notes

Meals of Young's China Travel•     Meals
In your itinerary, it normally offers two meals each day: breakfast and lunch. You will have the freedom to choose your own dinner. If you have certain food allergies or special requirements such as vegetarian food, please let us know in advance. We will try our best to satisfy your special needs.
Breakfast
Normally served at the hotel where you stay. Depending on the hotel, breakfast is Western style, Chinese style or a combination.
Lunch - A la Carte 
In order to have our customers to taste authentic Chinese food and avoid tourist menus, we take food quality, dining environment and travel convenience into consideration when planning your lunch. Therefore , we will arrange a la carte lunch at a local restaurant whenever possible. Lunch a la carte is varied with different recommended restaurants and different cities. You could order the dishes according to your taste under the instructions of your guide. However, in some remote regions where it is difficult to find a non-tourist restaurant, you could have lunch at a local tourist restaurant or in a local family.
Your Own Dinner Option
Dinner is not included in our China travel package, unless you have this requirement. Looking for food by yourself could also be one of your best experiences in China. Therefore we offer you this flexibility of food choice. You can ask for your private guide to gain good suggestions.

All our travel guides in each destination are local and responsible, who know this area well. They accompany you visiting this city during 8 working hours of each day and they will tell background stories of the tourist places, and show you the secret places to take your best Vehicles of Young's China Travel pictures.
When it is necessary to change your itinerary for unexpected reasons, your private travel guide will suggest alternatives to ensure that you still have an excellent experience.

Private Transfer

In all destinations visited, your vehicle is air-conditioned, clean and expertly maintained. Your private driver is licensed, insured and experienced.
Normally we will arrange vehicles with more space for you and your luggages. Depending on the number of passengers, we generally use sedans or minivans (7 seats) for 4 people or less, large vans or small buses (12-22 seats) for 5 to 12 people, medium cars (33-37 seats) for 13 - 25 people and large buses (more than 45 seats) for more than 25 people.
